| 19 disabled employees – who have never had access to a computer before- graduated with pride on completion of the Learndirect course ‘Computers Don’t Byte’ course in April 2002.
Barbara Hatton, Worknet’s Learndirect Manager, commended the employees of USEL and welcomed the start of an ongoing partnership between both organisations. “This was the first opportunity for most participants to access ICT and many of them aim to expand the skills they have learnt to increase their career opportunities,” she said. “It also celebrates a unique partnership between Worknet’s Learndirect Centre, Falls Road and USEL, sited in Cambrai Street, located between the Shankill and Crumlin Roads” Ms Hatton added.
Margaret Dunlea. USEL’s Training Manager said all of USEL’s employees have had a Training Needs Analysis completed recently. “Individual training needs will be catered for and company support given to ensure equitable access to training opportunities for all” she said.
The employees have a range of disabilities, requiring varying intervention, for example, physical access, communication support and accessible technology formats. |
